Food Stamps Step 1 is a web-based Food Stamp benefit eligibility engine developed by Bluemark for the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service.
This web-based application is available via the Internet and allows self-screening users to enter demographic and financial data which the application analyzes to calculate the user’s potential eligibility to receive benefits under a specific State’s Food Stamp program in just a few minutes. Food Stamps Step 1 supports Food Stamp eligibility rules for all 50 states and three U.S. territories.
Step 1 is an example of another Presidential initiative - the e government initiative - to use technology more effectively to deliver programs to the public. By gathering household information including income, assets and expenses a potential amount for food stamps is given to the prospective applicant. The tool can be accessed at www.FoodStamps-Step1.usda.gov or at www.govbenefits.gov.1
